[MW:6322] RE: 6319] GTAW for complete welding joint

The requirement, as far as code goes would be to insure your process weld procedure and operator are qualified for the thickness of deposited weld metal.

The only down side to me would be extended time to produce the weld using a slow process and heat input.

Can we use GTAW only for complete welding joint in following  cases.

 

1- Pipe,  API 5L Gr B, 3" dia, Wall Thickness 10 mm

 

2- Pipe,  316-L (Urea Grade) , 3" dia, Wall Thickness 10 mm
