[MW:6337] Girth Flanges for Heat Exchanges

Dear All,
I have not came across any clause in ASME or TEMA in which it is specified as Girth Flanges should not be Slip-on type Flange.
 
I am asking this to justify my customer that we can use Girth Flanges as Slip-on Type.
 
Does any one have any other opinion about this?
