[MW:6476] MW: 6458-P42 (Monel) to P1 (SA516 G.70) Welding

Hello Ibrahim,

A few queries  on your posting:-
  1. What's the design code
  2. What's the operating media? Does it involve HF or caustic environment in a refinery or Petrochemical Plant
  3. Are there any additional requirements- such as NACE  or API.
  4. What's the size of the nozzle to be welded?
  5. Is there any restriction from the client that "NO WELDING IS ALLOWED AFTER PWHT"
  6. Buttering on the nozzle opening with Monel(ER/E-NiCu7) + PWHT and installation and welding  of Monel nozzle could be an option. However in certain media this may be prohibited by the client/end user.
Appreciate your responses.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:6458] P42 (Monel) to P1 (SA516 G.70) Welding

Gents,

We have to weld a monel Nozzle SB165 (UNS N04400) (P No.42) to SA516G.70 (PNo.1) 45 mm thk

The vessel is required PWHT.

I need to qualify a PQR for this welding with ERNiCu+ENiCu-7.

Is it required to do PWHT of this joint (P42 to P1)?.

If PWHT is required what is the way of  welding of this joint?

If  PWHT is not required what is the procedure to weld it?

Is it required to butter the CS with monel before butt welding?

Is any post heting is required for this joint?

Thanks & Regards
Muhammed Ibrahim PK
