[MW:6679] Maximum allowable length of Pig(Scraper) in Pipelines

Dear all

I have few queries about the length of pig/scraper (cleaning pig i.e Brush or Batching)

1. is there any relationship between the length of the PIG/SCRAPER and the Dia of the Cross Country Pipeline

2. is there any relationship between the presence of Hot Pulled bends (eg 90deg) and length of the pig.

if so please help me by sharing the formulae and reference API of ASME standards.

The Pipeline is handling Liquid Petroleum Products like Petrol (MS), Diesel (HSD), Aircraft Turbine Fuel (ATF), etc. And the pigs/scrapers in the discussion are Bi-Directional.

Your suggestions will be of great help to me.

Regards

Ravindra
