Re: [MW:6339] Porosity in Aluminium welding Reg.,

1) For welding of such a pure aluminium, you need to control humidity below 50%.
2) Cleaning is very important, part shall be cleaned chemically (caustic cleaning etc) to degrease.
3) Weld edges shall be scraped properly (Mechanical cleaning). scraping shall be done in single direction and not deep scratches be produced. machined surface finish is best. manual scraping shall be done carfully with using handgloves and uniformly without deep scratch.
4) After scraping of weldedges, welding shall be commenced within 6 hours. filler wires also shall be cleaned chemically.
5) If part is thick and procedure allows, preheating can be done enough to remove moisture. while preheating, heat source shall not directly come on weldedge.

Dear All,

What are all the probable reasons for getting porosity in aluminium welding, other than weather conditions,   here both material and filler are 99.7% Pure Aluminium.

Please share with any type of reason.
