Dear Prasanna, I completely disagree with your comments .your comment may be applicable for WPS and PQR not for Welder Qualifications.Pls.FInd below the comments .
For example..welder qualify for SMAW,as per QW353 Change in P-Number is essential..but as mentioned in QW403.18 - A change from one P number to any other P-number or to a base metal not listed in table QW/QB422,"EXCEPT AS PERMITTED IN QW-423 AND IN QW-420.2."
More over QW-420.2 has been deletd in 2009b addenda.
And in QW-423 it is permitted to weld if the welder qualify with
P.Number-1 thru P.No.15F,P.No.34,P.No.41 thru 49.he can qualify for P.No.1 thru 15F,P.No.34,P.No.41 thru 49.
So ,If WPS avilable for P.Number-4 and F.Number (in this case it is same F-Number),Position and Diameter of pipe meets the criteria he can weld the P.number-4.
Thanks & Regards,
(karthik)

Dear All, As P-Number is an essentially variable, when the welder qualified with the P-1 WPS,PQR cannot be used for the P-4 material, hence requalification if required. It is for your kind attention QW 433 describes about F-No. only not about the P number. Regards, Prasanna.R.U.
