welding symbol. A graphical representation of the specifications for producing a welded joint.

 

weld symbol. A graphic character connected to the reference line of a welding symbol specifying the weld type.

 

For examples and rules for their application, refer to AWS A2.4, Standard Symbols for Welding, Brazing, and Nondestructive Examination.
