Re: [MW:6590] Tube to tubesheet requirements

for throat thickness dimensioning you gave to refer to the application code (ASME section I, 31.1, VIII-1 etc) and not to the section IX

[MW:6569] Tube to tubesheet requirements

Ref

Dear All,

Could someone please specify the exact definition of root penetration gap for tube to tubesheets (QW193)? I have been evaluating many of them and have noticed that welders are using much more weld metal for joining them then required, i.e. client's design criteria. Isnt it lot of wastage of weld metal or its something beyond my comprehension? Secondly the design criteria for throat thickness as defined by customer is equal to tube thickness but I have seen a specification (probably some older version of ASME IX), which says that it is equivalent to 2/3 of tube thickness.

Can anyone please share his experience concerning above queries with T2Tsheets?

Regards
