Re: [MW:6604] Welding procedure Thickness range qualification

Hi,

Please refer to QW-401.3 for definition of supplementary essential variables (A change in a welding condition which will affect the notch toughness properties of a weldment).

QW-403.8 is an essential variable,it governs the minimum and maximum thickness qualified of the basemetal.

QW-403.6 is an Supplementary essential variable. Please note that,If QW-403.6 applies, it modifies the minimum thickness qualified not the maximum.

So if you want to change the welding condition which will affect the notch toughness properties of the weldment only,QW-403.6 applies.otherwise follow essential variable QW-403.8.

Thanks & Regards,

(Karthik)

Dear All

BY ASME Sec IX for Welder Thickness range qualification, I am
referring QW 403.8 thats tells tat refer QW 451.1.
but wats QW 403.6 says? If we refer QW 451.1 is correct or not?

If we see welding variables QW 403.8 is essential variable & QW 403.6
is supplementry variables. wat SEC IX says

For welder thickness range qualification wat we have to refer? either
403.8 or403.6 ?
Pl explain this?

Regards
Srinivas
