[MW:9449] EN 287-1 Interpretation

Dear All,

Welder Qualification Code - EN 287-1,2004 Edition.

I have to fabricate some pipe supports and most of the work comes under fillet weld. I have some qualified welders as per EN 287-1 in plate 'butt weld' for all position. Are they qualified to weld these fillet welds as majority of the work comes under fillet weld? Should I requalify my welders in plate 'fillet weld' to fabricate these supports? I am looking for the correct interpretation of the following clause which is highlighted in yellow colour.

As per EN 287-1 ,2004 edition,5.4 Type of weld

b) in cases where the majority of work is fillet welding, the welder shall also be qualified by an appropriate fillet

welding test; in cases where the majority of work is butt welding, butt welds qualify fillet welds;

Regards,

Limesh
