Dear Mr.Karthikeyan,

Thanks for your inputs.

My question was specifically for the clad materials(Example :Stainless
steel 10mm plate Claded on 40mm Carbon steel plate)What must be
checked prior to welding.

I have got some answers from my close collegues which is as follows:

1.As an Example stated above  SS Claded on CS,We need to remove the
clad material from the edges for welding ,then check the Carbon steel
edges with copper sulfide solution(Etching) to ensure all the
particles of claded material(SS) has been removed(otherwise there is a
chance for cracking).

2.Then there is precautionary step to be taken before start the
welding, that is either cover the rest of the claded surface(SS) with
Limestone powder or mask with some adhesive tapes during the welding
activity.

3.Finally do the overlay welding with correct electrode.

Kindly post if you have any corrections or suggestions on the above details.

Regards,

SURESH.
