Re: [MW:9329] QW-407.2

Dear Sujay,

QW-407.2 is applicable when impact test is required, it states that PWHT time mentioned in PQR shall be minimum 80% of what PWHT temperatue is goin to be used during Production Welding (at site or what is written in WPS).

Suppose
I have PWHT 3 hours on the job. my PQR must have been qualified with PWHT time at least 180*80%=144 minutes. The recommended practice is to apply 2,5 times the PWHT time required for production to the PQR test coupons so that if in case you have to do repairs and repeat PWHT cycles, your PQR remains still valid. but make sure overheating doesn't affect mechanical properties.

Hope this would be helfull.

Regards
Manpreet Singh

QW-407.2
A change in the postweld heat treatment

(see QW-407.1) temperature and time range

The procedure qualification test shall be subjected to

PWHT essentially equivalent to that encountered in the

fabrication of production welds, including at least 80% of

the aggregate times at temperature(s). The PWHT total

time(s) at temperature(s) may be applied in one heating

cycle
