Re: [MW:17398] E 7018 used instead of E7018-1

Hi!
Generaly E7018 weld chemistry gives acceptable Impact properties up to minus  25-28 C in 3G position However Impact enrgy value reduces  as test  Temp lowers Therefore it is always recomended to use 7018-1 say up to minus 45C as it contains more Mn compared to 7018 . But some time even with 7018-1 does not give Impact value say 54J at minus 45C (Of course exception of reputed  brand) unless you control bead shape and Heat input in 3G position
Therefore it is very important to select right Consumables,Heat in put,Interpass temp and Flux coating basisity

Dear Experts,

Our welders are used E7018 instead of 7018-1 for A333 Gr-6.
Now client is asking to cut the joints.
Moreover they are asking to prove the remaining joints whether they are welded with 7018-1 or not.
Can anybody suggest a suitable method such as any NDT to prove that ?
So please send your valuable suggestion with reference to code.

Thanks & regards,

Binu.
